It Started with a Spark and a Love for Little Ones
In a New York City brownstone in 1989, new parents Uli and Michael Belenky were trying to dress their baby girl, Sophia. The baby clothes on the market didn’t fit quite right or reflect the joy they were feeling. So they started creating their own.
With Uli’s background in design and Michael’s creative eye as a photographer, they began handcrafting colorful, practical baby clothes. Local boutiques took notice, parents fell in love, and Zutano took its first steps.
Not long after, with the birth of their second daughter, Ella, the family moved to a hilltop farmhouse in Vermont. Surrounded by nature and new inspiration, Zutano began to grow.
Each piece is crafted with care using 100% organic cotton or our signature cozie fleece. Every item is designed to move with your little one, stand up to plenty of washing, and bring comfort through every wiggle, nap, and cuddle.
