Weekly Z: Tom Slaughter’s Maritime Collection
Today, we’d like to tell you about a friend.
Tom Slaughter was a New York City-based artist, designer and illustrator and his editions are included in the permanent collections of MoMA and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He was also the creator of 11 illustrated Children’s Books, a gifted collaborator with our creative director and a dear, dear friend. The year before last, Tom passed away, and it was a great loss to all of his friends. This spring, we wanted to create a collection to honor him and his great work that lives on. He had a huge heart for kids, loved his city, New York and the seaside where he spent endless hours in the summer. It is with this spirit that we created TWO wonderful new prints, dedicated to our Tom Slaughter: Maritime and Bateau.
Both of these prints are nautically-themed and are re-issued from an print collaboration in the early 90’s. You can find out more about the Bateau print here, but today we’d like to especially highlight the great features of the Maritime print. Done in bold colors of navy, red, yellow and light blue, the Maritime print is made to coordinate easily. Pair the Maritime Short Sleeve Baby Peasant Top with a pair of Yellow Baby Skinny Leggings and a Navy Stripe Baby Sunhat, or try theSnapshot Screen Baby Baseball Tee with a pair of Orange Toddler Bike Shorts. Mix and match the Maritime collection with pretty much anything from the Bateau collection, or even a nice pair of simple jeans or khakis. The versatility of the print means getting ready in the morning will be a snap, which means more time for sailing, exploring and making the world an even more beautiful place.
